TheBlowUp

I found this cool video on the COACD blog I go to very often. Here is his site: http://www.coacd.blogspot.com/ and here is the actual video link: http://www.theblowup.com/springsummer2006/. I have provided some screen shots to peak your interest.

Genevieve Gauckler

I love Genevieve Gauckler's art. She is by far the coolest artist I have seen in a long time. She makes really cute characters, great collages, and visually stimulating art. Here is her site: http://www.g2works.com/homepage.html, and here are some examples of her artwork! Way to go Genevieve!

Leo Villareal vs. Dan Flavin

Leo Villareal and Dan Flavin are neon/flourescent geniuses. I prefer Leo Villarel's light sculptures over Dan Flavin's, because they seem to be more technologically advanced and designed more, but Flavin's are equally important in modern art, I believe. Here are some examples of both artists work with light. Leo Villareal's happen to be shades of pink, while Dan Flavin's are the photos with white flourescents.

Stephanie Mills- "Put Your Body In It"

Jonathan and I discovered Stephanie Mills' song "Put Your Body In It" through http://lovefingers.org, and we have really been into it lately. It seems more people are catching on, or realizing this long lost track has grown in popularity, and will surely become a dancefloor hit once again. Scouring through a flea market in Chelsea a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the record, and snatched it up quickly! It is surely a hit! You can download it at Lovefingers' site from 9.16.06! Here is what James Murphy had to say while reviewing it on Itunes, as a song on his playlist.

"I've recently fallen in love with this song again. The synth bass is insane, and the vocal sound, while seeming on paper like something I might not like, is amazing. That swimmy delay and the punchy arpeggiated stabs...and also there's great disco lyrics about her waiting for some hot, shy dude to come onto the dance floor. In a sea of bad emo lyrics, very little makes me happier than this." Well said James!!

The Jets

The Jets - Crush On You

I went to see the Jets in concert when I was little....they were great! I don't remember too much about them from back then, but I do know I probably did those dance moves while watching this video on MTV.

Chanel Spring 2007

What I have been waiting for all week! I love how Karl revived the boyshorts he once showed in the 90's when Claudia Schiffer was modeling for Chanel. Here are my favorites from the Chanel Spring 2007 fashion show:

DFA Disco Dance Party

Last night we went to Studio B, a club in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and we went to go see the DFA team of James Murphy, Tim Sweeney, Juan Maclean, and Marcus Lambkin DJ. The club itself was amazing, the disco ball was shining brightly, and the croud was pumpin'. I would highly recommend going to Studio B (259 Banker St. btwn. Meserole and Calyer). Here are some photos from the evening.

Leonard, Stella, and Ungaro

Leonard, a brand in which is new to me, had shown a great collection of cute little asian inspired printed dresses, which are the first 4 photos. Stella gave some great looks, but my favorites were these metallic ensembles, the next 2 photos. Ungaro had also shown a lot of full-bodied shoulders on flowy gowns and short dresses, which were very cute! Here are my favorites from these three collections. A few photos of each from either Elle.com, or Style.com.

Paris Fashion Week

Nicolas Ghesquiere's collections for Balenciaga usually blow me away from start to finish, this time, for me at least, I only had a few favorites (I am sure it is different to see these garments in person, with all of the work that goes into each girl going down the runway.) Givenchy also gave a very futuristic collection, so I have added one photo from the collection I liked best. Photos from Style.com.

Sun, Serendipity, and Subway

When Sonya was visiting, she and I went to Central Park to the Belvedere Castle. It was fun, here are a few photos looking out over Central Park. Also, some photos of us being silly on the subway platform by our apartment, and one from serendipity!

Kayek

This is the start of Paris Fashion Week, and I have found this designer's collection to be very sweet and very wearable for spring! Dice Kayek, the designer, has shown some pretty adorable collections in the past, after doing some reserach, but it seems she has been hidden under the radar. Here are my favorite garments from Kayek's spring 2007 collection.
